MXenes

New Paper Published in npj Materials Degradation

Exciting news in the world of MXenes! Our team (Quanpeng Yang and Ashlie Martini (both Martini Research Group / University of California, Merced), Philipp Grützmacher (he-him) (Technische Universität Wien) and me (Technische Universität Wien and AC2T research GmbH – Austrian Competence Center for Tribology) has just published a groundbreaking article in npj Materials Degradation (Springer Nature Group) on the “Effect of Surface Termination on the Balance between Friction and Failure of Ti3C2Tx MXenes” in which we used reactive molecular dynamics simulations to uncover the complex relationship between MXene surface termination, friction, and failure. Our findings show that by manipulating the MXene surface termination, we can potentially tune friction and failure to optimize the performance of MXene-based materials in various applications.
