From July 31st to August 5th, 2022, I attended my first Gordon Research Conference in Newry in Maine. I presented a poster entitled “Effect of Aliphatic Chain Length on the Stress-strain Response of Semi-aromatic Polyamide Crystals”.
This was the first in-person conference I had attended since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. I had heard about how amazing the gordon conferences were but attending one by myself still really surprised me by how good it was. Different than most other conferences, at a Gordon conference, the oral presentations are invite-only, and there is only one presentation at a time. Therefore, attendees are able to listen together, discuss together, eat together, and live together. This is really enjoyable. Also, there is no advertisments at the conference, but pure science!
