Test Rig: Single Tip Scratching Tribometer
I fixed an “ancient time” tribometer by reprogramming the control system to control the movement of the x, y, and z-direction stepper motors. The tip could move up and down in the z-direction, while the stage could move in the xy-plane. The load on the tip was measured by a pressure transducer on top of the tip mount and the measured signal was sent via cable to the controlling computer.
